The best way to travel to Karamea is by walking either the Heaphy or the Wangapeka Tracks, but Air New Zealand also flies to Westport daily from major New Zealand cities. A daily bus service runs between Christchurch and Westport and between Westport and Karamea, or you could hire a car and drive north along one of the most scenic roads anywhere in the world.
